3) Also, unlike what you may read on Spurs forums his defense was great the past season, and very important to team success (the year before that was also very good), but this season he is giving up over 1 ppp on ridiculous % that you would struggle to get in a gym.

This 3 issues can be masked under the efficient shooting and volume scoring but are very important parts about Dirk's game that are nowhere near close to normal.

TWEET ABOUT THIS THINGS ROB! I almost went to bed without reading the recap because I forgot and you didn't tweet about it.

Also great job as always, re: Dirk, I think he is back, except for 2 things:

1) 3p% is a problem... I'ts driving me insane, it needs to get back, I'm scared this could be a mental blockage that he can't get out of, he needs his long range back for this team to suceed in the playoffs.

2) He is not as aggressive, he can go back to being an efficient shooter and a magnificente offensive force but he is driving or drawing fouls, it's ridiculous watching him end games with 0-3 free throws attempted, this also needs to get back.

I don't think the turnovers can be overstated. They turned it over on 21% of their possessions. The worst teams in offensive turnovers cough it up on nearly 16% of their possessions.

Dallas actually shot the ball well (48% overall, 46% from behind the arc), but their half court offense was painful to watch at times. Agreed about the aimlessness of Lamar and Roddy. West is also starting to annoy me in this regard. Too many times recently he takes long contested twos for no reason.

Mavs got whipped on the boards, made at least 7-8 incredibly silly turnovers, and (I think) stopped going to Dirk with frequency in the second half.

It was a team failure to be sure, but once again I was disturbed by the lack of consistency in our x factor players: Lamar and Roddy. Lamar had a brilliant stretch in the first half but was floating in the second. Roddy has no offensive purpose these last three games. His shot is off in a way that is nearly indescribable, and its transferred to the rest of his game. He's not been bad per say, but going against a younger Kyrie Irving it was glaring just how many holes Roddy's game has.

Bright sides were Dirk, Brendan Haywood, and Wright. Dirk's defense is still terrible, but his shot looks clean again. Haywood was active in the first half but the team had a hard time dealing with Anderson Varejao throughout most if the game so it sort of neutralized his efforts. Wright, again, was a joy to watch. He's clearly not a center, but he's talented across the board and the effort is constant (which cannot be said for someof our vets).

this year, dirk is terrible period. all the strides he made til 2011 have been completely erased and he looks like 03 dirk with a bit of 1st round vs GS dirk. huge fan, he had a great run, but the knee is a career killer. i'm embarrassed for him. kidd is even worse. nothing against either one, its just time....
