Lucky Seven

Erick Dampier’s contract is all the rage these days, but needless to say it wasn’t always so.  It’s bad.  Really bad.  But before you let all those zeroes haunt your dreams, keep in mind that it’s not the worst — much less one of the top five — contract of the decade.  Seven ain’t so bad, eh?

Thanks Rob! I always wanted to watch it because some of my friends had talked about it, but I never actually did. Great movie!

As for your characters Victor I think you chose great. I would take Kidd for Kambei though since Kambei does fight at the end (which in my terms equals playing). Marion could then be Shichiroji given that he played with Kidd in Phoenix. Although Josh is probably not that temperamental as Kikuchiyo I think it fits great as well.
And I'd pick Roddy for Katsushiro. JJ isn't rookie enough anymore.

    I love this! :)

    Cheers from Germany.

Haha. At first, I was just wondering who Kidd would match up as, but now I keep playing it over in my head. Maybe J-Ho's Kikuchiyo...But IMO, Marion has more to prove.

I'm more of a late Kurosawa guy, but it's nice to see a basketball fan with some film snobbery. I use google reader to read all my blogs in one place, and I thought you were one of my film blogs at first. My initial reaction was "Erick Dampier?!" and then I realized it was you. Ha.

If the Mavs were the characters in Seven Samurai who would Kidd be?

    I have it as

    Kambei - Carlisle
Gorobei - Kidd (or alternatively Kidd would be Kambei and Dirk would be Gorobei)
    Kikuchiyo - Marion
    Kyūzō - Dirk
    Heihachi - JET
Katsushirō - Roddy Beaubois or JJB?
I don't remember enough about Shichirōji, but I think he and Kambei were old friends. So I guess he'd be...anyone on the team who played for Carlisle back when he was w/ the Pacers?

I'm having too much fun with this.
  • Victor, you are the man.
  • Best movie ever? Very possibly so. In fact, I haven't seen that in, like, 2 years. Due for a re-watch...
  • @Brendan: Just picked up the Criterion Collection DVD for chump change at Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago, and I've been snuggling in bed with it ever since.
