It’s Okay, You Can Uncross Your Fingers Now

Marc Stein is reporting that Jason Kidd has given his verbal commitment to the Mavs to re-sign on Wednesday, the true opening of the free agency period.  The deal is somewhere in the ballpark of 3 years and $25 million, and is fully guaranteed.

Just to give credit where credit is due, this is almost the exact timeline that Eric Pincus of HoopsWorld offered for Kidd’s announcement, and the contract value is pretty damn close.  Sometimes rumors are just rumors and sometimes they’re straight out of psychedelic mushroom-induced visions, but in this case Pincus was right on the money.

    Wonderful. I laid awake nights wrestling with nightmares of losing JKidd for nothing in return. Glad to have that weight off, time to move onto the rest of the offseason.

    It's a relief that Kidd is coming back. Now the MAVS can concentrate on the Stack chip and possibly trading Erick Dampier. Cuban said they are looking at a few more deals in the next couple of weeks. Sounds good to me. And whaddyaknow...Hoopsworld FINALLY got something right. But just because they got one thing right does not mean I trust them...mainly because for everyone 1 they get right they MAKE up about 50 lies that do not have one bit of basis in reality. So while they got this right, let's don't get carried away here.
